“Time is of the essence with wills, particularly for our older clients. The will area in general has become much more complicated with many blended families, same sex families and the Relationships Act. Claims not only from family members but ‘trusted employees’ are becoming more prevalent, putting will-drafting and advice under greater scrutiny. I make sure I am across all developments to give my clients the best possible advice.”

Expertise
Amanda's expertise lies in wills and
estates, powers of attorney (general enduring, medical and
specific), probate and administration of estates including
intestate estates and reseals of foreign grants.
She also has experience in property
matters, but limits her practice in that area mainly to general law
conversions, adverse possession claims and lost titles.
As many of Amanda's clients are elderly
(and not comfortable coming to the city), she often advises them in
alternative locations, including their homes or her home.
Having being in practice for over 30
years (almost continuously), Amanda's expertise translates into
experience in dealing with people, particularly in her ability to
relate to her clients, who are often experiencing difficult times
with their grief, having recently lost someone close to them.
Experience
Amanda's experience includes:
- drafting a broad range of wills, both simple and complex
- advising on probate and intestate matters for various
clients
- advising on the administration of many large and complex
estates
- drafting powers of attorney, including general enduring,
medical and specific
-
estate planning.
Pro bono and Community Work
Amanda has worked with the Women's Legal Service and is also a
supporter of various charities, including the Lord Mayor's
Charitable Foundation, St Mary's House of Welcome Orphans in
Tanzania and a number of cancer support groups.
