Expertise
Katerina has experience acting for clients in a range of
commercial disputes. She has worked in many jurisdictions in
matters involving breach of contract claims, trade practices
matters, commercial and property disputes, insolvency and
bankruptcy.
She has a thorough knowledge of the options and alternatives
available to her clients, allowing her to find the best course of
action in every situation.
In 2011 Cornwall Stodart became responsible for reviewing and
updating the Lexis Nexis Australian Corporation Law -
Principles & Practice (External Administration) loose-leaf
volume on a quarterly basis. Katerina is one of the co-authors
involved in this process.
Katerina is the co-chair of our Young Business People
Committee.
Experience
Katerina's experience includes:
- litigating against a large and well known global company in the
New Zealand High Court in a multimillion dollar claim involving
breach of contract and misleading and deceptive conduct
- advising in a matter involving the misappropriation of funds
worth over $16 million
- litigating against a national insurer in a multimillion dollar
claim relating to an insurance policy indemnity dispute
- acting for liquidators in unfair preference claims against
multinational companies and the ATO
- litigating against a local government authority in various
property damage claims
- advising a real estate agency claiming a million-dollar
commission in a dispute regarding non-compliance with the sale
authority.
Pro bono and Community Work
Katerina has worked in community legal centres providing advice
and drafting law reform policies. In addition, she is involved with
fundraising for the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne and the
Murdoch Childrens Research Institute.
