John Date reaches 50 years' service with Cornwall Stodart
Many of you will recall that in 2007 John was awarded an Order
of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to the
community through providing assistance and support for the programs
of a range of Catholic religious orders, spanning nearly 40
years.
In 2008, at 73 years of age, John was awarded a Master of Laws
Degree at the University of Melbourne, with a thesis entitled
'Implications of Canon Law for Church Organisations Operating in
Australia'. He is well versed in this topic, having studied canon
law and represented clients in the Vatican Courts on several
occasions.
John is a long-standing employee and former partner of Cornwall
Stodart. He commenced at Cornwall Stodart in 1959 and was appointed
partner in 1960. He served as managing partner for 20 years, before
retiring in 1989. Retirement was short-lived and he returned to
work only a couple of months later. He continues to be sought by
clients and is actively involved in their endeavours.
"John has played a significant role in the success of Cornwall
Stodart," said Michelle McLean, Managing Partner of Cornwall
Stodart. "His leadership style and business acumen made him one of
the most respected managing partners in the history of the firm. He
has been a valuable contributor for over 50 years."
