Rena Solomonidis, Lawyer (previous Articled Clerk)
After completing a seasonal clerkship at Cornwalls, I knew I wanted to be a permanent member of the firm and was thrilled to be offered an articles position.
Rena Solomonidis
My articles year was diverse and I
completed rotations through five practice groups. This gave me
hands-on experience in several areas of law, including Banking
& Finance, Commercial Litigation, Commercial Property and
Corporate & Commercial. The work involved not only research,
but included drafting letters, emails, court documents, contracts,
wills, attending court and communicating directly with clients.
I also completed a rotation in Business
Development, which was particularly beneficial because it exposed
me to the commercial realities of a law firm and helped me to
appreciate that a law firm is a business as well as a legal service
provider.
The varied work undertaken during my
articles year was valuable in determining the type of law I wanted
to practise, and gave me the opportunity to meet and work with
everyone across the firm.
Admission to practise marked the
beginning of my life as a litigation lawyer. My transition into the
Commercial Litigation team was seamless and I was quickly underway.
I thoroughly enjoy working with a highly skilled and motivated team
that emphasises collaboration and support, and mentors its junior
lawyers.
As a first-year lawyer, I am
responsible for my own files with partner supervision and I work on
large scale litigation matters with senior practitioners. I also
have the opportunity to attend, instruct and appear in court. In
addition, I have direct contact with clients and the firm's strong
client focus has made me attuned to servicing their individual
needs.
Litigation is a demanding but incredibly rewarding area and one
I love because it is stimulating, diverse and dynamic.
