In 2010 we will be taking up to six seasonal clerks, offered as
summer clerkships only, during the period from November until
December 2010.
Duration
The duration of a seasonal clerkship is normally four weeks and
accords with your summer university semester breaks. In addition to
those four weeks, you will also commence your clerkship with a
three day induction period.
Rotations
You can choose how you would prefer your clerkship to be
structured. We recommend that you spend two weeks in two different
practice groups, to ensure you gain a broader understanding of the
various areas of commercial law. This will also give you a chance
to work with lawyers who have different styles, as well as the best
opportunity to see a matter from start to finish. You may decide,
however, to spend your entire clerkship in one practice group - or,
alternatively, spend a week in four different practice groups.
Induction
To ensure a thorough introduction to the firm, you will undergo
a comprehensive induction program which will include an
introduction to everyone in the office, the systems and procedures
you will need to know so you are operational during your clerkship,
as well as an overview of our library and research facilities, our
document database and precedents.
Ongoing Learning
Apart from on-the-job learning, you will also be encouraged to
attend weekly Enhancing Success Program (ESP)
seminars. These are in-house seminars conducted under the
supervision of senior associates and partners on various topics of
law.
Applications
Applications for our seasonal clerkship program in 2010 have
closed.
How to Apply
Send your letter of application, resume and academic results
to Human Resources Manager via cvMail. Once we have had an opportunity
to review all applicants, those selected will be invited to attend
an interview with our Managing Partner, Michelle McLean, and the
Human Resources Manager.
It is anticipated that interviews will commence in April
2010.
