Peter Brignell

Peter has acted for both borrowers and financiers in relation to complex secured and unsecured project financing, acquisition financing, asset financing and general corporate financing matters across a range of industries such as real property development, agriculture, manufacturing and financial services. He has experience in securitsation, water rights and matters arising from the application of the Personal Property Securities Act.

Prior to being admitted to practise, Peter spent more than 20 years as a financial accountant for listed and unlisted corporations. He has extensive financial experience primarily gained in financial services, property, managed funds and mining. He has also worked for several high net worth families in Melbourne.

Peter’s recent experience includes:

• Advising a Victorian Hotel Group on the provision of a club deal by two major Australian banks providing core debt and working capital facilities totalling $200m.
• Acting for a major Australian bank as incoming first mortgagee in relation to a $70m sale of four retirement villages where security documentation included Loan Agreements, Guarantees, Mortgages and also due diligence on more than 1000 titles.
• Advising a major Victorian property developer on the provision of a multi option facility agreement from a major non-bank property lender to assist in the acquisition of development property with a value of $40m.
• Advising a major Victorian property developer on the provision of a senior and junior construction loan facility from a major non-bank property lender secured over development property totaling $60m.
• Advising a major Victorian property developer on the provision of a multi option facility agreement and a mezzanine facility agreement from a major non-bank property lender to assist in the acquisition of an development property with a value of $60m.
• Acting for a major Australian bank as the current first mortgagee in amending an existing bilateral facility with a facility value of $70m for a major Australian agricultural business to allow for the acquisition of new assets.

Peter has spent time volunteering at community legal centres in regional Victoria.
